Advancing Toxicology Through Collaborative Science: Insights from HESI Global
Jennifer Pierson, Associate Director for Program Development & Resourcing, Claire O’Brien, Raechel Puglisi, Scientific Program Managers, and Lucilia Mouries, Senior Advisor
Abstract: This webinar will highlight how collaborative science is advancing modern toxicology through global partnerships and innovative safety assessment approaches. Speakers will introduce the role of HESI Global and highlight some prior collaborations with SPS, then explore specific project areas of interest to the safety pharmacology community. The first project will feature emerging strategies for early cardiac screening, including the use of new approach methodologies (NAMs) to assess botanicals. Additional presentations will address current challenges in genetic toxicology, with a focus on nitrosamine risk identification, and illustrate how collaborative approaches have contributed to the development of internationally harmonized methods for evaluating emerging modalities such as cell and gene therapies, for which regulatory paradigms are still maturing. Together, these talks provide a concise overview of key scientific and regulatory issues shaping the future of translational and predictive safety science.
